King Charles, Queen Camilla Meet Pope In Historic Vatican Visit
By ANDERSON (ANDY) CLIFF
KING Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in Vatican City on Thursday for a formal meeting with Pope Leo XIV, marking the start of their state visit to the Holy See. The royal couple received a ceremonial welcome at the Apostolic Palace, complete with the Swiss Guard and national anthems of both nations.
The visit, held during the Papal Jubilee, is personally significant to the king and marks the first time a British monarch will pray publicly with a pope since the Reformation. The meeting underscores growing ties between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church.
