Workshop Targets Passenger Protection
Efforts to strengthen consumer protection in Nigeria’s aviation sector will take centre stage on 12 March as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), headlines a specialised workshop on passengers’ rights.
The one-day event, convened by the Juweirat Law Resource Centre in partnership with Synergy Attornies, is themed “Passengers’ Right Under the Law; Ethical Obligations and Strategic Compliance.”
Mrs. Emmanuella Obi, the workshop coordinator, said the initiative aims to equip air travellers with knowledge of their entitlements and the legal remedies available in cases of disputes.
Addressing Misconceptions in Air Travel
According to Obi, insufficient understanding of aviation regulations has contributed to public hesitation about air travel.
She noted that the forum will provide practical guidance and up-to-date legal insights to both travellers and professionals in sectors that rely heavily on air transport.
The programme will adopt a hybrid format, enabling both physical and virtual participation.
Stakeholders Across the Industry to Speak
The workshop is expected to draw participation from key stakeholders, including Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
Other speakers include senior advocates Abiodun Awonikoko and Oyin Bashorun, both leading practitioners in aviation and commercial law.
Organisers say the session will not only clarify passenger rights but also examine the ethical obligations of service providers and strategies for regulatory compliance.
The hybrid workshop is open to legal professionals, aviation stakeholders and members of the public, with registration available via infor@synergyattornies.com.
