TERRORISTS who abducted 10 residents of Isapa in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have issued a one-week deadline for the payment of a ₦300 million ransom, threatening to kill the victims if their demand is not met.
The captives were seized last Sunday, and negotiations have so far failed to secure any release. The abductors initially requested ₦500 million but later reduced the amount to ₦300 million.
Community leaders said the kidnappers warned that failure to meet the deadline would result in another violent attack on Isapa, vowing to “kill many more residents.” The threat has deepened fear and anxiety within the community.
Isapa’s Chief Hunter, Mr. A. Adeyeye, confirmed on Thursday that the criminals rejected the community’s counter-offer of ₦5 million, calling it unacceptable. He also disclosed that the kidnappers claimed responsibility for a recent attack on a C&S Church in Ejiba, Kogi State, where a pastor, his wife, and several worshippers were abducted.
