INTERSWITCH has stressed that Africa’s digital transformation depends on trust, collaboration, and scalable infrastructure, not just innovation and funding.
Speaking at Moonshot by TechCabal 2025 in Lagos, Akeem Lawal, Managing Director of Interswitch Purepay, said Africa’s growth will thrive on “infrastructure that endures, partnerships that unite, and trust that turns innovation into impact.”
He called for public-private partnerships and domestic investment mobilisation to unlock over $1.1 trillion in local capital from pension and sovereign wealth funds, noting that this would accelerate large-scale digital development.
Lawal highlighted Interswitch’s role in enabling financial inclusion, interoperability, and digital payments through platforms like Verve and Quickteller, reaffirming the company’s commitment to building resilient systems that power Africa’s digital economy.
