THE Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has introduced a Post-Amnesty Voluntary Return and Documentation Programme (PAVRDP) for foreign nationals who failed to regularise their stay or leave Nigeria during the Expired Visa Initiative, which ended on 30 September 2025.
According to NIS spokesperson ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, the programme — starting 13 October — allows affected foreigners to voluntarily report to the nearest Immigration Command for registration and case-by-case assessment.
The NIS warned that those who ignore the directive would face arrest, detention, deportation, and long-term entry bans, while individuals or organisations aiding illegal immigrants risk prosecution.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to humane and lawful migration management and to strengthening national security through effective enforcement of immigration laws.
