Idjerhe Monarch Suspends 16 Chiefs To Restore Order

Council Takes Disciplinary Action
THE Idjerhe Traditional Council in Delta State has suspended 16 chiefs indefinitely over allegations of misconduct, insubordination and financial impropriety, in a move aimed at restoring peace and respect for traditional authority within the kingdom.
Among those affected is Chief Solomon Ojariafe, who has been derobbed as the Unugbrogodo of Idjerhe Central Oguedion. Other suspended chiefs include Michael Enakposegha, Super Abonoko, Wilfred Agidi, Samson Atanaga, Lucky Akpore, Odoji Dimiyo Emakuneyi, Mathieu Abobo, James Otugoma, Henry Otubu, Lucky Emoefe, Omonigho Enakposegha, Edafe Ikewu, Fidelis Sago, Mathew Adegor and Eugene Adegor.
₦25 Million Allegation
Addressing a press briefing on Saturday, the Crown (Otota) of Idjerhe Kingdom, Uzzi Onosia James Obriki, said Chief Ojariafe failed to account for over ₦25 million said to have accrued to the Idjerhe Central Oguedion during his tenure.
Obriki, speaking on behalf of the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM Udurhie I (Monday Whiskey), said the alleged actions amounted to gross misconduct and defiance of the throne.
Coronation Boycott and Cultural Breaches
The council further accused Ojariafe of directing chiefs under his jurisdiction to boycott the fifth coronation anniversary of the Ovie held in January 2026, describing the move as a grave insult to the traditional institution.
According to Obriki, invitations sent to the three Oguedions in the kingdom were rejected by Ojariafe on grounds the council described as baseless.
Other Allegations
The council also alleged plans by Ojariafe to organise a community festival without royal approval, refusal to submit a list of palace chiefs, and hosting leaders of a banned traditional association.
Calling for calm, the council maintained that the suspensions were necessary to preserve peace, unity and cultural values in Idjerhe Kingdom.
