Highlights Of Akpabio’s Meeting With Niger Delta Leaders

The Niger Delta ethnic nationalities and youth leaders have met with Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, Honourable Minister for Niger Delta Affairs. It was described as a brainstorming session, which could make or mar not a few interests in the fragile oil-rich region, as implementation of the outcome is expected in the coming days.

 The issues included, constituting a substantive NDDC Board, completion of the intractable East-West Road project, employment and empowernment of Niger Delta youths and development of Niger Delta communities on a scale, not seen in the past. Also, Niger Delta youths want to be included in processes of decision making in Niger Delta affairs. They also want the Forensic Audit report on NDDC to be made public and punishment for those indicted, as well as the all-round development of Niger Deltans and the Niger Delta.
