THE Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army has concluded a two-day field training exercise aimed at enhancing troops’ proficiency in ambush and counter-ambush operations.
The exercise, tagged “Exercise Heavy Strike,” took place at the 176 Guards Battalion, Gwagwalada, and along the Rafin Zurfi–Ibua route in the Federal Capital Territory.
Brig.-Gen. Adebisi Onasanya, Commander of the Guards Brigade, said the exercise was part of efforts to strengthen combat readiness and tactical response in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s directive for continuous, realistic training.
He emphasised that such exercises build confidence, alertness, and operational efficiency, ensuring effective security across the FCT and neighbouring states.
The training featured lectures, field drills, and tactical demonstrations, followed by a review session. Souvenirs were later presented to instructors and representatives from Army Headquarters for their support.
