Group Restores Peace Back To Premium Steel Company
THE Urhobo People’s International Assembly (UPIA) yesterday restored peace back to Premium Steel Company Ovwian/Aladja in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State over an ultimatum placed by a group on non production and alleged looting of the company’s properties.
A group had issued a seven-day ultimatum to get the Company on non production of goods, alleged looting of the company’s properties and rational payment of salaries.
But addressing journalists after a crucial peace meeting with the Management of Premium Steel Company and the Udu Chapter of UPIA, the President, Olorogun Daddy Osimini commended the management for addressing the issues laid down before them, saying that it will further bring lasting peace to the company and Udu Kingdom in general.
He said “I was mandated by our National President, Hon. Leige Lord Keston Okoro to come and know what is going on in Premium Steel Company on when they will begin full and effective production. However, during our interface with the Premium Steel Company management, they assured us of continuous working relationship between them and the workers, promising that while full production is expected to begin in December, salaries of workers are still ongoing.”
He added that, while the management thanked UPIA for quick intervention, they also assured that workers’ welfare will continue to be top most priority in Premium Steel Company, noting that they (Management promised to continue working with the Group for lasting peace and promoting the company.
In this same vein, the Urhobo People’s International Assembly has kicked against the naming of location of the Udu railway station as Alfred Rewane Rail Station Warri, insisting that the rail station should reflect ‘Alfred Rewane Station Udu’ instead of Warri as Udu is a Local Government Area of Delta State, just as Warri is domiciled in another local government area.
The Udu Chapter President of Urhobo People’s International Assembly, Olorogun Daddy Godwin Osimini made this strong appeal while addressing newsmen in Udu.
He said; “Udu people and Deltans in general are very happy and thankful for the completion of the Rail from itakpe to Udu, noting that this has further expanded the developmental system of Udu Kingdom by the daily operation of the train. He however appealed for the name, Warri which reflects as Alfred Rewane Train Station, Warri to be readdressed as ‘Alfred Rewane Station Udu’.
