NIGERIA’S Green Falcons sent a strong message of intent on Tuesday, thrashing Ghana’s Leopardess 40–0 in a dominant rugby friendly at the Alaro City Pitch, Lagos.
The emphatic win showcased Nigeria’s speed, structure, and superior teamwork as they fine-tune preparations for the World Rugby Series in Canada later this month.
Head Coach Luke Shearman praised the team’s discipline and growing cohesion, crediting the blend of local and international players for boosting morale and skill levels. Captain Blessing Aladeyelu hailed the result as proof of the squad’s unity and readiness for global competition, saying, “We’re proud of our performance and prepared for Canada.”
Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Rugby League Association, Ade Adebisi, noted that grassroots programmes were key to sustaining such progress, emphasizing efforts to groom young talents nationwide.
The Green Falcons face Ghana again on the 11th of October before heading to Canada for the World Rugby Series (21–26 October).
