FRSC Urges Officers, Stakeholders To Sustain Road Safety Efforts
THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on its officers and stakeholders to remain committed to making Nigerian roads safer and saving lives.
Outgoing Unit Commander of the Badagry Command, Mr. William Manga, made the appeal on Sunday during a send-forth ceremony held in his honour by the command in Badagry.
Manga, who assumed duty as Unit Commander of RS2.11 in June 2023, urged his colleagues and partners to build on the progress achieved during his tenure.
“I implore you to work together for a future where our roads are safer, and lives are preserved. Road safety is a shared responsibility. It does not end with one commander or one tenure – it is a continuous journey,” he said.
Reflecting on his time in office, Manga said his vision was to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, improve road safety, and foster cordial relations with the host community.
He noted that the achievements recorded were the result of teamwork involving officers, transport unions, community leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, schools, religious bodies, and residents of Badagry who supported the command’s enlightenment programmes.
“Together, we achieved improved compliance with traffic regulations, strengthened enforcement with fairness and discipline, and enhanced public trust in the corps,” he said, adding that community engagement and sensitization played a vital role in the successes.
Manga expressed gratitude to the Badagry community for their warm support, describing it as one of the highlights of his tenure. He also thanked officers of the unit for their loyalty and hard work.
In their tributes, a retired FRSC officer, Mr. Fatai Aduloju, described Manga as a diligent leader who worked closely with his men, while the command’s spokesman, Mr. Sulaiman Abdullahi, praised him as disciplined and God-fearing, noting that his absence would be deeply felt.
Newscrackersng reports that Manga has been redeployed to the Edo Sector Command as Deputy Corps Commander.
The ceremony was attended by traditional chiefs, officials from sister agencies, commuters, residents, and motorists in Badagry.
