FIFA has named Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed to officiate the decisive World Cup qualifying playoff between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and DR Congo.
Jayed, 38, who handled Nigeria’s 2–0 win over Rwanda earlier in the qualifiers, will lead an all-North African officiating team for the must-win clash that will determine Africa’s sole representative for the intercontinental playoff.
He will be supported by compatriots Mustapha Akarkad and Zakaria Bernisi as assistant referees, with Tunisian Mahrez El Malki serving as fourth official. VAR duties will be handled by Lahlou Benbraham and Haitham Guirat.
The match kicks off at 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat.
