FG Disburses ₦32.9 Billion To Boost Primary Healthcare Nationwide

THE Federal Government has released ₦32.9 billion under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) to strengthen primary healthcare centres across Nigeria. Dr. Oritseweyimi Ogbe, Secretary of the Ministerial Oversight Committee, said the funds—part of the BHCPF 2.0 reform—will enhance service delivery and accountability at community level.
According to Ogbe, BHCPF-supported facilities recorded a 28% rise in outpatient visits and an 18% increase in skilled deliveries between Q1 and Q2 2025. The new phase introduces stricter monitoring, a biannual Accountability Index, and collaboration with the ICPC to ensure transparent fund use.
He said ongoing state onboarding and partner support will drive full implementation of BHCPF 2.0, advancing Nigeria’s goal of universal health coverage.
