THE Federal Government has declared Wednesday 1st October 2025 a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani, congratulated Nigerians and urged continued patriotism and support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
However, the government announced the cancellation of the traditional Independence Day parade, citing no reduction in the significance of the anniversary.
The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation noted that other planned programmes would hold as scheduled and reassured citizens, diplomats, and guests of the government’s commitment to celebrating the milestone with dignity.
