GOVERNMENT REASSURANCE AND FAAC CLARIFICATION
THE Federal Government has confirmed that civil servants have received their January 2026 salaries following the disbursement of ₦1.969 trillion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).
The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, clarified the situation on Sunday, dismissing claims that the January FAAC meeting was stalled due to disagreements between the Federal Government and state representatives.
Uzoka-Anite stated that salaries were paid promptly after the release of statutory allocations, adding that she personally received her January salary on Friday.
“I can confirm that salaries have been paid. I also received my salary,” the minister said.
She explained that contrary to reports of irreconcilable figures at the FAAC meeting, discussions were delayed only by a single line item that required further consultation by the participating tiers of government with their respective principals.
According to her, the unresolved item did not affect the release or sharing of funds.
“There was no dispute. What remained was one line item that required all parties to consult. It did not stall the disbursement of funds,” she said.
The minister also denied any rift between the Federal Government and state governments, stressing that the delay in issuing the FAAC communiqué was procedural and not indicative of conflict.
Uzoka-Anite confirmed that ₦1.969 trillion was distributed from the ₦2.585 trillion revenue generated in December 2025.
The revenue pool comprised ₦846.5 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), ₦1.631 trillion from statutory revenue sources, and ₦38.1 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy.
From the distributable amount, the Federal Government received ₦653.5 billion, while the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory shared ₦706.4 billion. Local government councils received ₦513.2 billion, and oil-producing states were allocated ₦96 billion as 13 per cent derivation.
Some civil servants across ministries confirmed receiving salary alerts for January 2026.
