FEC Approves ₦400 Billion For Key Road Projects Nationwide

THE Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved new and reviewed road projects valued at over ₦400 billion to boost Nigeria’s transport infrastructure.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced this after the FEC meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said the ministry presented 11 memos—nine for project reviews and two for new contracts.
Approved projects include the ₦43 billion rehabilitation of Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Phase Two, Section Two, and the dualisation of the Mushin–NNPC Junction–Papa Oshodi Expressway, revised from ₦11 billion to ₦19 billion.
The council also approved the construction of Section Three of the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, spanning 162.97 kilometres at ₦3.39 billion per kilometre, and the ₦43 billion first phase of the Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egba road.
Other approvals cover the ₦156 billion redesign of the East–West Road, ₦52 billion upgrade of the Ota–Idi-Iroko road, ₦30 billion rehabilitation of the Jos–Turunkun–Maraban–Jama’a road, and ₦53 billion reconstruction of the Ijebu–Ibu Ete–Egba–Owena road.
Umahi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to using concrete pavement for durability, saying the projects reflect President Tinubu’s resolve to improve road infrastructure and drive economic growth.
