Enugu Authors Visit Folklore Icon Bukar Usman In Abuja

A delegation of writers from the Enugu State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Bukar Usman, president of the Nigerian Folklore Society, at his Maitama residence following the 2025 ANA International Convention.
Led by chapter chairperson Adaobi Nwoye, the delegation included Justice George Nnamani, former commissioner Emeka Ukwuaba, and author–journalist James Eze. Nwoye described Usman as a respected national figure whose contributions to literature and public service continue to inspire writers across Nigeria.
Usman, reflecting on his years in government, emphasized integrity in public service and shared anecdotes from his career, including encounters with former Foreign Affairs Minister Babagana Kingigbe and the late Head of State, General Murtala Muhammed. He urged younger professionals to uphold truth and merit in leadership.
The writers toured his home library, after which Usman presented each guest with one of his books. Eze also gifted him a copy of his award-winning poetry collection, Dispossessed.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Justice Nnamani thanked Usman for his hospitality and for sharing insights that, he said, would continue to guide their literary and professional journeys.
