Eno Pledges Safer Future For Akwa Ibom Children

Government Prioritises Children’s Future
THE Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a safe and secure environment that will support the growth and development of children in the state.
The governor made the pledge while receiving pupils of King’s Kids Christian Montessori School, Uyo, during an educational tour of the Government House.
The visit took place on Friday 13 March 2026, and provided the pupils with an opportunity to observe the workings of government and interact with the state’s chief executive.
Children as Future Leaders
Governor Eno said the future of society depends largely on how well children are nurtured and educated today.
He emphasised that government policies must prioritise the welfare, safety and education of young people.
According to the governor, the visit was important because interactions with children help reinforce the values of leadership, responsibility and civic engagement.
“You are the future of the world,” he told the pupils.
“What you learn today and the experiences you gain will shape who you become tomorrow.”
Ensuring Peaceful Learning Environment
The governor stressed that one of the key responsibilities of government is to provide a secure and peaceful environment in which children can pursue their education.
He noted that a stable environment is essential for academic excellence and personal development.
Eno said his administration is working to maintain peace and social stability while also improving welfare and opportunities for residents of the state.
“We are working to ensure that Akwa Ibom remains peaceful so that you can focus on your education and pursue your dreams,” he said.
Recognition for Teachers’ Role
Governor Eno also acknowledged the role of teachers in shaping the future of society.
He praised the teachers accompanying the pupils for their dedication and commitment to mentoring the children.
According to him, educators play a vital role in building responsible citizens and future leaders.
Their efforts, he said, complement the government’s commitment to strengthening education in the state.
Guided Tour and Gifts for Pupils
As part of the visit, the pupils were taken on a guided tour of the Government House, including the governor’s office.
The tour allowed the children to see how government functions and to better understand the responsibilities associated with public leadership.
At the end of the tour, the pupils received backpacks containing educational materials and meal packs.
The backpacks carried the insignia of the ARISE initiative, symbolising their role as young ambassadors of the programme.
Expressions of Gratitude
Speaking on behalf of the pupils, Senior Prefect Miss Ruth Thank-God thanked the governor for hosting them and described the experience as inspiring.
She praised the governor for his leadership and efforts to improve the state.
The Deputy Head Teacher (Academics), Mrs. Grace Ben, also expressed appreciation for the warm reception given to the pupils.
She noted that the interaction would motivate the children to aspire to leadership roles in the future.
Recognition for Leadership
The visit concluded with the presentation of an Award of Leadership Excellence to Governor Eno by the pupils.
The award recognised his contributions to governance, education and youth development in the state.
The governor, in response, encouraged the pupils to remain focused on their education and strive to become responsible citizens who will contribute positively to society.
