Eid Message: Delta Speaker Harps On Unity, Democracy & Compassion

Speaker Extends Eid Greetings
THE Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and shared responsibility as Muslims across Nigeria celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
In a statement issued in Asaba and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker described Eid as a powerful reminder of the enduring values of kindness, empathy, and generosity.
Eid as a Call to Shared Humanity
Guwor emphasised that the lessons of Ramadan extend beyond fasting, urging citizens to internalise the virtues of patience, sacrifice, and compassion in their everyday lives.
He noted that the spirit of Eid should inspire a deeper commitment to fairness, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
National Unity and Social Harmony
As Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, the Speaker used the occasion to highlight the importance of unity in a diverse nation.
He urged Nigerians to promote tolerance and mutual respect, stressing that national cohesion remains essential for stability and sustainable development.
According to him, collective efforts rooted in empathy and cooperation are necessary to overcome the country’s socio-economic challenges.
Faith, Prayer, and National Progress
Guwor also offered prayers for the nation, asking that Almighty Allah accept the sacrifices of the faithful, forgive shortcomings, and grant Nigeria lasting peace and prosperity.
He expressed optimism that the values nurtured during Ramadan could serve as a foundation for building a more inclusive and harmonious society.
Democracy and Civic Responsibility
The Speaker underscored the role of democratic institutions in national development, urging citizens to remain committed to supporting governance structures across the country.
He reaffirmed the dedication of State Houses of Assembly to promoting peace, accountability, and good governance, while advancing development at the state level.
Support for Government Agendas
Guwor specifically called on residents of Delta State to sustain their support for the “Renewed Hope” agenda of Bola Tinubu and the development initiatives of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He stressed that collaboration between government and citizens is vital for achieving a more secure and prosperous nation.
A Message Beyond Celebration
Beyond the festivities, the Speaker’s message reflects a broader appeal for unity, empathy, and active citizenship.
As Nigerians mark Eid-El-Fitr, the call remains clear: to translate the spiritual lessons of Ramadan into tangible actions that promote peace and national progress.
