Eid-El-Fitr: Oborevwori Calls For Unity, Peace Amid National Challenges

Governor Felicitates Muslims on Eid
DELTA State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in Delta State and across Nigeria as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the governor commended Muslims for their spiritual devotion, discipline, and commitment throughout the fasting period.
Ramadan as a Period of Reflection
Oborevwori described Ramadan as a time of deep spiritual reflection, self-restraint, and compassion for others, noting that these values are essential for fostering a more harmonious society.
He urged adherents of Islam to carry forward the lessons of sacrifice, patience, and generosity beyond the holy month, emphasising that such virtues are critical in addressing societal challenges.
According to him, the true essence of Ramadan lies not only in fasting but in the transformation of character and renewed commitment to moral and communal responsibilities.
Call for Unity and Peaceful Coexistence
Against the backdrop of Nigeria’s socio-economic and security challenges, the governor stressed the need for unity among citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
He called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance and mutual respect, describing peaceful coexistence as a foundation for national stability and development.
Oborevwori further urged Muslims and other citizens to use the Eid celebration as an opportunity to pray for peace, progress, and sustained stability in the country.
Reaffirming Commitment to Governance
The governor also used the occasion to reiterate his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and development in Delta State.
He assured residents that his government remains focused on delivering infrastructural projects and improving the overall welfare of citizens under the M.O.R.E Agenda.
He noted that collaboration between government and the people is essential to achieving sustainable growth and building a more secure and prosperous state.
Appeal for Responsible Celebration
While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid celebration, Oborevwori advised residents to celebrate responsibly and in accordance with the values of moderation and discipline associated with Ramadan.
He encouraged continued support for government initiatives, stressing that collective responsibility remains key to advancing the state’s development goals.
A Message Beyond Celebration
Beyond the festivities, the governor’s message underscores a broader appeal for unity, resilience, and shared purpose at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with economic and social pressures.
By linking the spiritual lessons of Ramadan with civic responsibility, the message reflects an effort to bridge faith and governance in the pursuit of societal progress.
