Easter Message: Oborevwori Urges Christians To Stay Strong In Faith

A Message of Faith and Reflection
DELTA State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Christians across the state and Nigeria to remain steadfast in their faith as they celebrate Easter, describing the season as a powerful reminder of hope, sacrifice, and renewal.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the governor highlighted the spiritual significance of Easter, noting that it marks the triumph of light over darkness and life over death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He urged believers to reflect deeply on the meaning of the season and draw strength from its message, especially in a time when many Nigerians continue to face social and economic challenges.
Call for Values That Build Society
Governor Oborevwori emphasised that beyond celebration, Easter presents an opportunity for Christians to recommit to the core values exemplified by Jesus Christ—love, humility, perseverance, and selflessness.
According to him, these virtues are not only central to the Christian faith but are also essential for fostering unity, peace, and progress in society.
“This sacred season reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the eternal hope His resurrection brings,” the governor said, adding that Nigerians must translate these teachings into everyday actions that promote harmony and collective growth.
He stressed that building a peaceful and prosperous society requires a shared commitment to justice, compassion, and mutual respect among citizens.
Prayers for Peace and National Progress
The governor also used the occasion to call for prayers for Delta State and the nation at large. He urged citizens to seek divine guidance for leaders while working together to strengthen the bonds of unity and nationhood.
“As we commemorate the resurrection of our Lord, let us renew our commitment to building a state and a nation where peace, justice, and brotherhood prevail,” he said.
Oborevwori expressed optimism that with collective effort and faith, Nigeria can overcome its current challenges and achieve sustainable development.
Encouraging Responsible Celebration
While extending warm greetings to Christians, the governor advised residents to celebrate responsibly and safely during the Easter period. He encouraged families to cherish moments with loved ones and extend kindness to the less privileged.
He noted that acts of generosity and compassion during the festive season can go a long way in easing the burdens of vulnerable members of society.
Reaffirming Commitment to Governance
Reassuring Deltans of his administration’s dedication, Governor Oborevwori reiterated his commitment to improving the living conditions of citizens and making life more meaningful for all.
He said his government would continue to pursue policies and programmes aimed at enhancing welfare, promoting development, and ensuring inclusive growth across the state.
As Easter celebrations continue, the governor’s message underscores the enduring relevance of faith, unity, and shared responsibility in building a better Delta State and Nigeria.
