DSS Seizes Massive Weapons Cache In Delta As Oborevwori Orders Statewide Crackdown

THE Department of State Services (DSS) has intercepted a large cache of sophisticated weapons in Asaba, Delta State, in a major security operation that led to the arrest of a notorious arms dealer and his accomplice.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who visited the DSS Command Headquarters on Monday, commended security agencies for the breakthrough and ordered an immediate crackdown on criminal networks across the state.
“Bringing in heavy arms of this nature is unacceptable and a direct threat to our peace. We will not allow it,” the governor said, warning those attempting to destabilize the state to desist or face prosecution.
DSS Deputy Director of Operations, Anthony Ifemeje, said the 12th October operation led to the arrest of arms dealer Stephen Sabo Atoshi and a 40-year-old teacher from Taraba. The suspects allegedly ran an international arms network smuggling weapons from Libya through Chad into Nigeria.
Recovered items included seven GPMGs, several AK-47s, hand grenades, and fake drugs hidden in bags of beans.
Oborevwori also directed security agencies to arrest those responsible for the killing of community leader Jerry Aduara in Warri, stressing that his administration’s MORE Agenda prioritizes peace and security.
