DOPF 4th Lecture: Award of Warri, Effurun Flyovers Shows Delta Government’s Commitment to Economic Growth — Oborevwori
GOVERNOR Sheriff Oborevwori has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, describing the ongoing Warri and Effurun flyover projects as clear evidence of the Delta State Government’s readiness to transform the state’s economy.
Speaking at the 4th Lecture Series of the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF), held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in Asaba, the Governor—represented by the Functional Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Mr. Lucky Omokri—said the flyovers symbolize strategic investment in urban renewal and economic expansion.
The lecture, themed “Fiscal Policy and Taxation: Balancing Revenue Generation and Economic Growth,” provided a platform to discuss how improved tax systems and sound fiscal policies can sustain development in the state.
Mr. Omokri emphasized that as the government implements the MORE Agenda, it will continue to focus on revenue generation from landed properties and major economic ventures, while ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for residents and investors.
“As government drives development across the state, we expect citizens to reciprocate by paying their taxes. This partnership is vital for sustainable growth,” Omokri stated.
In his remarks, Chief Dr. Samuel Eshenake, Secretary of the Uvwie Traditional Council of Chiefs and Chairman of the event, commended DOPF for organizing the lecture. He described the topic as “timely and relevant,” urging stakeholders to maintain a balance between fiscal responsibility and economic progress.
Also speaking, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, praised DOPF for promoting media development and encouraging responsible online journalism. He called on Deltans to pay their taxes regularly and support the government’s development drive.
