DESOPADEC Director Disburses ₦50,000 Each To 100 Delta South Party Members

Empowerment Initiative Targets Grassroots Mobilisation
THE Executive Director of Planning, Research and Statistics at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Efele Eyewuoma Nicholas, has distributed ₦50,000 each to 100 members of his political constituency in Delta South Senatorial District as part of a grassroots empowerment initiative.
The programme, themed “Empowering Our People for More Followership,” took place on March 14, 2026, at the Koko residence of former DESOPADEC Chairman, Michael Diden, popularly known as Ejele.
Beneficiaries were drawn from the Itsekiri, Ijaw and Isoko ethnic groups, reflecting the diverse composition of Delta South.
Strengthening Party Structures
Speaking during the event, Eyewuoma said the initiative was designed to strengthen party structures by supporting members at the grassroots level.
He emphasised that political stability and electoral success depend heavily on active participation and loyalty among party faithful.
According to him, empowering members financially would enhance engagement, encourage mobilisation and deepen commitment to the party’s objectives.
He further advised beneficiaries to utilise the funds responsibly, noting that small-scale financial support could significantly impact livelihoods if properly managed.
Call for Collective Support
Eyewuoma also used the occasion to urge financially capable members of the party to extend similar support to others.
He stressed that collective responsibility within the party would foster unity and improve organisational strength ahead of future political contests.
In addition, he called on party members to remain committed to the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sheriff Oborevwori, particularly as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
Political Undertones Emerge
The event also carried subtle political undertones, with key stakeholders using the platform to position themselves ahead of upcoming elections.
Former DESOPADEC Chairman, Michael Diden, described the empowerment programme as a gesture of appreciation to party members who supported Eyewuoma’s political journey.
He commended the initiative and used the opportunity to formally declare his intention to contest the Delta South Senatorial seat in the National Assembly in 2027.
Stakeholders Applaud Initiative
Chairman of the occasion, Omatseye Akatakpo, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Warri North, praised the initiative, describing it as a commendable effort to deepen grassroots participation.
Other party leaders and stakeholders present at the event also lauded the programme, noting that such interventions could strengthen the party’s support base across the region.
Broad Political Participation
Among dignitaries in attendance was the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Festus Ani Ashima, alongside other prominent members of the All Progressives Congress from across Delta South.
Observers note that initiatives such as this reflect a growing trend among political actors to combine empowerment programmes with grassroots mobilisation strategies.
While the immediate impact may be financial relief for beneficiaries, the broader implication lies in building political loyalty and consolidating influence ahead of future elections.
