DENMARK has pledged to strengthen its partnership with Nigeria to develop the maritime sector and position the country as a leading hub in Africa.
Speaking at the 10th Lagos International Maritime Week (LIMWEEK), Danish Consul-General Jette Bjerrum said Nigeria’s youthful population and vast coastline present huge opportunities for technology-driven maritime growth.
She highlighted Denmark’s $1.2 billion investment in APM Terminals at Onne and Kano dry port, as well as a recent $60 million MoU with the Nigerian Ports Authority.
Bjerrum also noted ongoing collaborations in satellite communication, training, and maritime safety, stressing the need for new partnerships and financing models.
Denmark, ranked among the world’s top 10 maritime nations, sees Nigeria as a strategic partner in expanding Africa’s role in global shipping.
