Delta Widows Laud Governor Oborevwori For Prompt Payment Of October Stipends

WIDOWS benefiting from the Delta State Widows Welfare Scheme have expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the timely payment of their October stipends.
For many of the beneficiaries, widowhood in Nigeria comes with deep emotional pain and significant financial hardship. The state government’s prompt intervention has therefore provided renewed hope, easing the burden on thousands of vulnerable women who depend on the monthly support to meet their basic needs.
Speaking with journalists in Asaba, the State Coordinator of the Widows Welfare Scheme, Chief Isioma Okonta, praised Governor Oborevwori for what he described as “compassionate and exemplary leadership in all ramifications.”
Chief Okonta confirmed that payments to the 10,000 verified widows enrolled in the scheme were made directly into their bank accounts on Wednesday 19th, Thursday 20th, and Friday 21st of October, in line with the Governor’s directive.
He noted that the Governor’s unwavering commitment to the monthly stipends has continued to uplift disadvantaged women across the state, especially those who passed through rigorous verification before being enrolled.
Okonta further revealed that, with the full enrollment of all 10,000 widows now completed as mandated by the Governor, the Free Health Care Service Registration—also approved by Governor Oborevwori—is nearing completion. The registration exercise, he said, has been ongoing and will provide additional medical support and security for the beneficiaries.
In a show of gratitude, many widows offered prayers for Governor Oborevwori, asking God to strengthen him and grant him the grace to continue his good works for the people of Delta State and Nigeria at large.
