Delta To Shut DSC Roundabout For Five Weeks

Temporary Closure for Infrastructure Upgrade
THE Delta State Government has announced the temporary closure of the DSC Roundabout to vehicular traffic from Monday 24 February to Monday 31 March 2026.
The move, authorities said, is to enable ongoing construction work and complete critical road connections beneath the flyover structure at the busy junction in Effurun.
According to the government, the closure forms part of a broader infrastructure upgrade designed to improve traffic flow and enhance long-term transportation management in the Effurun axis.
Traffic Restrictions and Alternative Routes
During the five-week period, only motorists traveling between Effurun and Ughelli will be allowed to use the existing flyover.
Drivers heading towards Otokutu, Mofor and other adjoining communities have been advised to take alternative routes. Recommended diversion roads include Ugbomro Road, Uti Road, PTI Road and other connecting routes, as will be directed by traffic management personnel on ground.
Officials explained that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to finalize essential connections beneath the flyover, which will significantly ease congestion once completed.
Commuters, transport operators and residents are urged to plan their journeys in advance and comply with directives from traffic officials to ensure smooth movement during the construction period.
