WITH the kickoff of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) only days away, the Delta State Sports Commission has officially unveiled the new Delta Queens squad, signalling the state’s readiness for another competitive football year.
The presentation ceremony, held in Asaba, brought together top sports officials, coaches, and players as the Commission showcased the team that will represent Delta State in the new season.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, expressed strong confidence in the team’s level of preparation. He assured that the state government would continue to provide the necessary resources, welfare, and technical support to ensure a successful campaign.
Hon. Oborevwori described Delta Queens as a “symbol of pride, resilience, and excellence,” praising the team for consistently inspiring young girls across the state who aspire to careers in professional football. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening women’s football development and expanding opportunities for female athletes.
As the NWFL kicks off on November 26, 2025, Delta Queens will begin their title chase with a crucial away match against Nasarawa Amazons. The fixture is expected to set the tone for what many anticipate will be one of the league’s most competitive seasons yet.
With renewed government backing and a refreshed squad, fans of Delta Queens are optimistic that the team will make a strong push for domestic honours in the months ahead.
