DELTA State Sports Commission Chairman, Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori, will receive the Best Sports Commissioner Award at the 2025 Nigeria-France Sports Awards in Paris on 20 October.
Organisers said the award recognises his “transformative leadership” and contribution to grassroots and youth sports development. Since assuming office in November 2024, Oborevwori has repositioned Delta as a model for sports excellence, leading the state to top the medals table at the 22nd National Sports Festival with 109 gold medals.
Under his tenure, Delta also recorded major strides in school sports reforms, gender inclusion, and talent discovery, while Warri Wolves FC earned promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Paris event, organised by OJB Media Network, will also honour top athletes and administrators including Maria Tavares, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Rasheeda Ajibade.
Oborevwori described the award as a tribute to Delta’s enduring legacy as Nigeria’s sporting powerhouse.
