Delta Govt Approves ECN Road Reconstruction To Ease Movement, Boost Development — Oborevwori
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced that the state government will reconstruct the ECN Road as part of ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility, link communities and stimulate economic activities across Delta State.
Oborevwori said the decision was taken in response to persistent complaints about the deplorable state of the road and the daily difficulties faced by residents, commuters and businesses that rely on the corridor. He assured that the project would be done to standard and completed within a clearly defined timeframe.
The governor made the disclosure on Friday at Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area during the 50th and 19th memorial celebration of late Chief and Madam Palama Akporhierayen, parents of APC chieftain Sir Sheba Kris Palama.
According to him, the ECN Road reconstruction aligns with his administration’s MORE Agenda, which places strong emphasis on delivering quality infrastructure as a driver of security, commerce and improved living standards.
Oborevwori also highlighted other ongoing projects, including the long-delayed Udu Harbour Market, which he said will soon be commissioned after being awarded nearly 18 years ago.
The governor used the occasion to call on political office holders and community leaders to embrace servant leadership. He stressed that no leader is superior to the people they serve, and public service must be guided by humility, accountability and loyalty to the electorate.
“There is no local government where I don’t have leaders. You cannot say because you are governor that you are all in all. No. You must be loyal to your people because we are only serving them,” he said.
Commending Sir Sheba Palama for honouring his late parents, Oborevwori described the memorial as a noble act that reinforces the importance of family values and legacy.
“When you have children who remember you, your legacy lives on,” he added.
The governor appealed for unity among the people of Udu, noting that meaningful development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation.
“Development can only happen when there is unity. I will do my best to do whatever the Udu people want, but unity is key,” he emphasized.
Oborevwori thanked traditional rulers, community leaders and residents for their warm reception and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development across Delta State.
