Delta Government Urges Christian Women To Sustain Prayers For Leaders
By PAULINA NZERUBE
THE Delta State Government has called on Christian women across the state to sustain fervent prayers for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and leaders at all levels, stressing the importance of spiritual support in governance and societal stability.
The call was made by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Prince Johnson Erijo, when the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Delta State chapter, paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba. Erijo described women as natural intercessors whose prayers shape families, communities and the wider society, urging them to continually remember the state in prayer so that divine grace and wisdom would guide its leadership.
He commended women for their active political engagement, acknowledging their support before, during and after the 2023 elections, and assured them that Governor Oborevwori remained committed to delivering on his campaign promises through people-focused policies and infrastructure development across the three senatorial districts.
Erijo also appealed for prayers and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that early economic reforms were beginning to yield relief at grassroots levels. He said Delta’s political alignment with the Federal Government had enhanced the state’s national visibility and harmonised the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda with the governor’s MORE Agenda.
Responding, WOWICAN Chairperson, Dr. Anne Oghogho, reaffirmed the women’s spiritual backing for the administration, praising ongoing projects such as flyovers in Warri, Ughelli and Agbor, as well as the Asaba–Ughelli dual carriageway. She appealed for increased pilgrimage slots and employment opportunities for qualified members.
