Delta Empowers 150 Students With ₦400,000 Grants Each

Delta Government Disburses ₦60m to Students Under Entrepreneurship Scheme
THE Delta State Government has awarded financial grants totaling ₦60 million to 150 students across selected tertiary institutions as part of its drive to promote youth entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance.
The initiative, implemented through the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development, saw each beneficiary receive ₦400,000 during a presentation ceremony held at Dennis Osadebay University.
Beneficiaries Across Four Institutions
The beneficiaries were drawn from four major institutions in the state, including Delta State University, University of Delta, Dennis Osadebay University, and Southern Delta University.
Officials said the programme was designed to equip students with the financial backing needed to translate business ideas into viable enterprises while still in school.
Driving Innovation and Self-Reliance
According to the ministry, the Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Programme is focused on nurturing innovation, reducing youth unemployment, and encouraging a culture of self-sufficiency among students.
By providing startup capital, the government aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical enterprise development.
Commitment to Youth Development
The initiative underscores the state government’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and economic inclusion. Stakeholders noted that such interventions are critical in preparing graduates for a competitive economy where entrepreneurial skills are increasingly essential.
The programme is also expected to stimulate small-scale business growth within the state, with beneficiaries encouraged to invest the funds in sustainable ventures.
