Delta Broadcasting Community In Mourning As Aniagwu Eulogises Vivian Nkechika

Aniagwu Pays Tribute to Late DBS Broadcaster Vivian Nkechika
DELTA State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has paid glowing tribute to the late veteran broadcaster, Vivian Nkechika, following her passing, describing her death as a significant setback to journalism and public broadcasting in Delta State.
In a statement released on Thursday in Asaba, Aniagwu expressed heartfelt condolences to the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Asaba, and the Delta State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), noting that the media community has lost one of its finest professionals.
Voice of Integrity and Excellence
The commissioner said Vivian Nkechika was widely known for her distinctive voice, disciplined work ethic, and unwavering dedication to ethical journalism.
He described her as a broadcaster who upheld the core values of fairness, accuracy, and public service, contributing immensely to public enlightenment and societal development through her work.
According to Aniagwu, her professionalism set a benchmark for excellence in broadcasting, making her a reference point for younger journalists within and beyond DBS.
Distinguished Career at DBS
Aniagwu recalled that the late broadcaster, a native of Ekwuoma in Ika North East Local Government Area, served as an Assistant Manager in the Programmes Department of DBS, Asaba.
During her years of service, he said, she played a critical role in programme development and presentation, helping to strengthen the station’s reputation as a trusted source of information and education for Deltans.
Her commitment to duty, he noted, earned her the respect of colleagues and the admiration of audiences across the state.
A Painful and Untimely Loss
Describing her passing as deeply painful, Aniagwu said the loss was particularly tragic because her experience, mentorship, and institutional memory were still invaluable to the media sector.
He stressed that her absence would be felt not only at DBS but across the wider journalism community in Delta State.
Solidarity With DBS, NUJ, and Family
The commissioner extended his sympathies to the management and staff of DBS, the leadership and members of the NUJ in Delta State, and the bereaved family, praying for strength and comfort during the difficult period.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul, encouraging media practitioners to honour her memory by sustaining the values of professionalism, integrity, and excellence she exemplified throughout her career.
Aniagwu concluded that while Vivian Nkechika may be gone, her legacy in broadcasting remains indelible, serving as a lasting inspiration to present and future generations of journalists in Delta State.
