Dangote Truck Crash Kills Several In Ondo

TRAGEDY struck on Wednesday in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, when a cement-laden truck reportedly owned by the Dangote Group lost control and crushed several people, including a pregnant woman, along the Akungba-Owo highway.

Witnesses said the truck, which suffered brake failure, rammed into pedestrians after breaking through a barricade near Adekunle Ajasin University’s main gate. The school’s Student Union confirmed about 10 deaths and blamed authorities for allowing heavy trucks to use the route despite repeated warnings.

Tension has since risen between the student union and the local palace, both accused of compromising the barricade for monetary gain. Authorities have yet to respond, while investigations continue into the cause of the accident and responsibility for the breach.
