Cranes Captain Confident Ahead Of Nigeria Clash

THE Uganda national team faces a must-win showdown against Nigeria as they seek progression to the knockout stage of AFCON 2025 in Morocco. Team captain Ivan Ahimbisbwe has urged his squad to approach the game with belief and determination.

Uganda started their Group campaign with a 3-1 loss to Tunisia before bouncing back with a draw against Tanzania, leaving them with just one point. Victory against the Super Eagles is now imperative to remain in contention for the round of 16.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ahimbisbwe emphasized the importance of mental readiness and focus. “We believe in ourselves, come with a good mentality and try to win,” he said, highlighting the team’s resolve to overcome a tough Nigerian side.

Despite Nigeria being heavy favourites, the Cranes remain committed to putting up a strong challenge to secure the crucial three points.
