Clark: Oborevwori Replicating Urban Standards In Riverine Areas

Government Pushes Infrastructure into Deep Creek Communities
THE Delta State Government has intensified efforts to expand infrastructure development into riverine communities, declaring that the administration’s commitment to the region is both firm and irreversible.
Chief Ebikeme Clark, Commissioner overseeing the Directorate for Riverine Infrastructure Development, gave the assurance during an inspection of key projects in Warri North and Warri South-West LGAs.
According to Clark, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is determined to ensure that residents in creek areas enjoy the same quality of infrastructure as those in urban centres, despite logistical and environmental hurdles.
Delivering Roads in Challenging Terrain
One of the flagship projects inspected was the 3.1-kilometre Kolokolo–Tisun Road. Executed by Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited, the project aims to improve connectivity between the two communities and stimulate economic activities.
Clark noted that the contractor was carefully selected to guarantee durability and high standards. He praised the level of progress recorded so far, adding that the government remains committed to strict quality control.
Amb. Muobor Krubu, General Manager of the construction firm, disclosed that the project is on schedule for completion within its twelve-month timeframe, expressing appreciation for the cooperation of host communities.
Investing in Education at Oporoza
In Warri South-West, the inspection team reviewed progress on the Oporoza Model Secondary School, a comprehensive educational facility designed to serve riverine students.
The school will include hostels, laboratories, a library, staff quarters, and modern administrative buildings. Clark described the project as a transformative investment in human capital development, aimed at improving access to quality education in the creeks.
Communities Express Gratitude
Leaders from Kolokolo, Tisun, and Oporoza communities commended the state government, describing the projects as historic milestones. They pledged continued support for the administration’s development agenda.
Clark emphasized that community peace and cooperation remain crucial to sustaining progress, noting that infrastructure delivery in riverine terrain requires collaboration between government, contractors, and residents.
The projects reflect the broader objective of bridging infrastructural disparities and fostering inclusive growth across Delta State, ensuring that development extends to even the most remote riverine settlements.
