BILATERAL trade between China and Nigeria reached $15.48 billion from January to July 2025, a 34.7% increase over the same period in 2024, according to Ms. Yan Yuqing, Consul-General of China in Lagos.
Speaking at a reception marking China’s 76th anniversary, Nigeria’s 64th independence, and the Mid-Autumn Festival, Yuqing described Nigeria as China’s second-largest trading partner in Africa.
She attributed the growth to stronger ties elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership at the 2024 FOCAC summit, with deepening cooperation in infrastructure, energy, trade, culture, and education.
Yuqing commended the Chinese community in Nigeria for their role in development and cultural exchange, while pledging continued consular support to strengthen bilateral relations.
