CHINA, through its Red Cross Society, has donated 1,000 family kits to support Nigerian communities hit by recent floods.
At the handover ceremony in Abuja on Friday, Mr. Zhou Hongyou, Minister at the Chinese Embassy, said the gesture reflected China’s solidarity with Nigeria in times of crisis. He extended condolences to families who lost lives and property to the floods, adding that the aid aligns with China’s people-centered development and global cooperation agenda.
Dr. Abubakar Kende, Secretary-General of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, praised the support, assuring that the relief materials would reach affected families in Niger State and other flood-ravaged areas. He also invited Chinese officials to visit communities in Makwa to see the impact firsthand.
Kende reaffirmed the Red Cross’ role in complementing government disaster response while commending China’s sustained humanitarian partnership.
