NIGERIA’S women’s rugby league team, the Green Falcons, has received a major boost from Chappal Energies ahead of their trip to Canada for the 2025 Women’s Rugby League World Series, a key qualifier for the 2026 World Cup in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The Falcons, competing alongside Canada, Ireland, and Fiji, aim to become the first African nation to qualify for the global tournament.
Chappal Energies’ Managing Director, Ufoma Immanuel, said the company’s support reflects its values of belief, perseverance, and possibility, commending the team’s resilience and ambition.
Nigerian Rugby League Chairman, Abiodun Cole, hailed the sponsorship as a morale boost, saying the Falcons “carry the hopes of every girl who’s ever been told she couldn’t.”
The Falcons—made up largely of amateur athletes—will open their campaign on 21 October in Canada. Their qualification would mark a historic milestone for African women’s rugby and Nigerian sport.
