THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the match calendar for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to kick off on 21 December in Morocco. The tournament, featuring 24 qualified nations including Nigeria, will run through the festive season and into early 2026, promising a showcase of Africa’s finest football talent.
CAF confirmed that the opening match will take place at one of Morocco’s flagship stadiums, with the host nation expected to feature in the curtain-raiser. The group stage fixtures will be spread across multiple cities, as teams compete for places in the knockout rounds.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles, having secured qualification earlier in the campaign, will aim to bounce back from recent disappointments and contend for their fourth AFCON crown. Fans can expect high-stakes encounters, thrilling goals, and fierce competition throughout the tournament.
Further announcements from CAF regarding match venues, ticketing, and kickoff times are expected in the coming weeks. With top African stars set to shine in Morocco, the 2025 AFCON promises to be one of the most exciting editions in recent history.
