WAFCON 2026 Draw in Rabat Set for Mid-January
THE Confederation of African Football has officially scheduled the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations draw for 16th January in Rabat, Morocco, the governing body announced Tuesday. The draw will determine group placements for the 16 teams that have qualified for the championship.
Nigeria, the reigning WAFCON champions, will be one of the headline teams at the draw, aiming to navigate the group stage successfully en route to a potential title defence. The Super Falcons, Africa’s most decorated women’s football side, will seek a favourable group as they sharpen preparations for the tournament.
The WAFCON finals are slated for 17 March to 3 April 2026, continuing the expansion of women’s football across Africa with heightened competition and increased visibility for the sport. CAF officials say the January draw will be a key milestone in the countdown, finalising fixtures and group-stage logistics.
Rabat’s selection as the draw venue underscores Morocco’s expanding footprint in continental football affairs, providing an international backdrop ahead of the buildup to the 2026 tournament.
