BENIN DISCO COLLABORATES WITH SECURITY AGENCIES TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY
MANAGING Director/Chief Executive Officer of BEDC Electricity Plc, Mr. Deolu Ijose has embarked on collaboration with security agencies within its franchise, saying the aim is to enhance service delivery.
The Managing Director, made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to the Commandant, 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin, Brig. Gen. Ndahi D. H in his office recently.
BEDC’s Head of Branding and Corporate Communications, Mrs. Evelyn Gbiwen, in a press statement, said during the visit by Ijose and his Management team, they familiarized themselves with the Command while seeking collaboration in protecting BEDC personnel and assets in its franchise states.
Ijose continued by saying that the visit was also geared towards appreciating the robust working relationship between the Command and BEDC, especially a swift response to a request for his men to work around BEDC infrastructure.
The MD/CEO decried the alarming increase in vandalism and energy theft in the Disco’s network, while he called on the Command to assist in the protection of BEDC Installations to enable the electricity company to continue to serve customers efficiently.
Ijose further reiterated his commitment to collaborate with the Command and other security agencies to curb the nefarious activities of hoodlums, thereby nipping the unfortunate scenario in the bud.
On the issue of epileptic power supply, being experienced lately, Ijose said it was not peculiar to Edo State, adding that “out of the 4, 000 megawatts being generated from the National Grid, Benin Disco was allocated nine percent to be distributed to its four franchise states.” Sequel to this scenario, Ijose said the company has embarked on public enlightenment to get the public informed.
In a related development and as part of his familiarisation with key stakeholders in the Disco’s network, Mr. Ijose and his team paid two courtesy visits to Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Dankwara and the State Director of State Security Services (DSS ), Barr. M.E. Ernest in their offices in Benin.
According to Ijose who extolled the sterling qualities and leadership style of the duo, commended their steadfastness in making Edo State a safe haven, while soliciting their continuous support in protecting the personnel and assets of BEDC just as Ijose appealed for more collaboration and closer relationship between the Police, DSS and BEDC.
The MD appreciated the security agencies for regular electricity bills’ payment while soliciting their support and co-operation at all times.
Responding, the Edo State Police Commissioner thanked Ijose and his team for the visit and promised to maintain the mutual relationship that has existed between BEDC and the police over the years.
The Police boss assured of his readiness to work assiduously with his officers and men in assisting BEDC through effective collaboration. The Edo State Director of State Services also assurred her willingness to assist the company through intelligence gathering that will help to track down vandals and other criminal elements.
