Benin City Set To Host 2025 CGMI Mega Convention With Over 40,000 Delegates
BENIN City, the Edo State capital, is preparing to host more than 40,000 delegates for the 2025 Convention of the Church of God Mission International (CGMI), scheduled to take place from August 4 to August 10 at the Balm of Gilead City.
The convention, codenamed MegaCon 2025, carries the theme “Focus on Christ for Immeasurable and Infinite Love.”
Chairperson of the Convention Planning Committee, Rev. (Mrs) Maureen Okoro-Sokoh, disclosed this during a press conference held on Friday in Benin City.
She said the convention is expected to draw participants from across Nigeria and several other countries and described the event as a spiritually enriching and life-changing experience.
Okoro-Sokoh said MegaCon 2025 would feature teachings, worship sessions, and leadership programmes designed to uplift and empower participants, adding that the gathering would also boost local tourism and economic activity in Edo State.
The convention will be led by CGMI’s Presiding Archbishop, Margaret Benson-Idahosa, and will feature several notable ministers, including Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide; Bishop (Dr) Feb Idahosa, President of Benson Idahosa University; and Bishop Wale Oke, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
“There will be anointed gospel ministers leading worship, creating an atmosphere of soul-lifting praise and powerful encounters with God,” Okoro-Sokoh said.
She noted that the annual event serves as CGMI’s flagship gathering, focusing on spiritual renewal, leadership development, youth empowerment, and community outreach.
Quoting Archbishop Benson-Idahosa, she said the convention represents a “divine appointment” and an opportunity for believers to reconnect with Christ.
Also speaking at the briefing, CGMI’s Director of Administration, Rev. Tari Hudson-Ekiyor, said adequate security and logistics arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and hitch-free convention.
Other officials present at the media briefing included Rev. Steve Okoro-Sokoh, Rev. Engr. Etinosa Igbinobaro, Rev. (Mrs) Joy Ayere (Director of Kingdom Builders), Rev. (Mrs) Sharon Ighile (Head of Corporate Affairs), and Dr. Elder Dan Tolofari (Chief Protocol Officer for the convention).
