Strengthening Community–Security Collaboration
THE Asagba of Asaba, Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, has reaffirmed the importance of community involvement in security during a visit by the Delta State Honorary Members of the Police Officers Mess led by Uju Udeme.
The visit, held at the monarch’s palace, focused on enhancing collaboration between community leaders and security stakeholders.
Recognising Civilian Contributions
Azinge praised the association for its unique role in supporting policing efforts through advocacy and engagement, noting that peace and order require contributions beyond formal institutions.
He said the group’s involvement demonstrates the growing importance of citizen participation in addressing security challenges.
Addressing Local Tensions
The monarch highlighted security concerns in parts of Asaba, particularly Ikpoto and Ajaji Layout, where communal tensions have reportedly surfaced.
He revealed that discussions are underway on establishing a police post in the area as part of proactive measures to maintain peace.
According to him, community-driven interventions are critical in addressing such challenges before they escalate.
Acceptance of Patron Role
Citing alignment between the group’s objectives and his peace agenda, the monarch accepted their request to serve as Grand Patron.
He pledged continued partnership to promote stability and develop solutions to emerging security issues.

In his remarks, Udeme said the association remains committed to supporting peace initiatives and strengthening relationships between communities and law enforcement agencies.
He expressed appreciation for the monarch’s support and leadership, noting that his acceptance of the patron role would further enhance the group’s impact.
