Asagba Of Asaba Urges New NSCDC Delta Commandant To Strengthen Proactive Security Measures
THE Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Prof. Chike Edozien Azinge, SAN, has charged the newly deployed Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Chinedu Fabian Igbo, to adopt a proactive and transparent approach in carrying out his duties.
HRM Azagba Azinge gave the charge yesterday 12 September 2025, when he warmly received the Commandant and his team during a courtesy visit to his palace.
The monarch emphasized the importance of the NSCDC in safeguarding critical government assets and infrastructure, particularly around strategic locations such as the Niger Bridge axis. He expressed concern over the limited visibility of NSCDC operations in Delta State, stressing that the state government should integrate the Corps more fully into the security architecture of the state.
“Your mandate is clear — to protect lives, property, and critical national assets. I urge you to be proactive in your thinking and actions, to lead with honesty, transparency, and diligence, and to ensure that the NSCDC presence is strongly felt across Delta State,” the monarch said.
HRM Asagba Azinge assured the Commandant of his support and encouraged the Corps to work closely with other security agencies to foster peace and stability in the state. He described the NSCDC’s role as indispensable in complementing the efforts of the police and military.
Earlier in his remarks, Commandant Chinedu Fabian Igbo, an indigene of Enugu State, expressed gratitude to the monarch for the warm reception. He congratulated HRM on his successful ascension to the throne as the 14th Asagba of Asaba and acknowledged the palace’s longstanding relationship with the NSCDC.
He explained that his visit was both to pay homage and to seek the royal blessing of the monarch as he assumes responsibility for overseeing the Delta State Command. Commandant Igbo pledged to sustain and strengthen the cordial relationship his predecessor had with the Asaba palace and its people.
The visit concluded with assurances of collaboration and renewed commitment to strengthening security presence and operations within Delta State.
