Asagba Azinge Attends Opening Of Delta Judiciary’s 2025/2026 Legal Year

HIS Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, the Asagba of Asaba, joined top dignitaries at the opening of the Delta State Judiciary’s 2025/2026 Legal Year held at the High Court of Justice, Asaba, today 13 October 2025.
The ceremony began with a Thanksgiving Mass at Emmanuel the Saviour Catholic Church, officiated by Most Rev. Dr. Michael Elue, Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese. Attendees included Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, senior government officials, judges, lawyers, and traditional rulers.
In her address, Chief Judge Hon. Justice Theresa Diai reviewed the judiciary’s progress in digital reforms—such as e-filing, e-affidavits, and e-probate systems—and plans for verbatim court reporting and solar-powered courts. She acknowledged challenges like infrastructure and manpower gaps while commending the governor’s support for judicial development.
Attorney General Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, and NBA Warri Chairman Barr. Othadua Okpakpor also spoke on the need to strengthen the rule of law under the M.O.R.E. Agenda.
HRM Asagba Azinge lauded the judiciary’s dedication to justice and institutional integrity, calling the event “a reaffirmation of faith in the rule of law and good governance.”
