Asaba Women By Marriage Commended For Supporting Husbands In Community Development

The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, has commended Asaba women by marriage, popularly known as Ikpoho Ogbe, for their strong support in advancing the community’s development and unity.
The monarch gave the commendation when members of Ikpoho Obi Mogbue from Umuonaje Quarters paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Asaba.
Prof. Azinge noted that the progress of Asaba depended on the collective effort of all its sons and daughters, stressing that the women by marriage were vital stakeholders because of their direct support to their husbands’ contributions to community building.
“The development of Asaba through self-help is a collective duty. Our women by marriage play a crucial role because their husbands need their support to contribute meaningfully,” the Asagba said.
The traditional ruler highlighted several initiatives he had undertaken to improve the welfare of residents and maintain peace and security in the capital city. He added that Asaba had become a preferred destination for both Nigerians and investors due to its stability and welcoming environment.
He urged the women to continue promoting peace, shun bitterness, and support the Peace Building Committee led by the Omu of Asaba, which has successfully resolved conflicts among women groups in the community.
Expressing concern over the rising cases of drug abuse and cultism among youths, the Asagba described the trend as “worrisome and unacceptable,” urging mothers to guide their children and instill positive values in them.
“We must raise children who will become responsible members of our community. As mothers, you have a duty to help us shape the future of Asaba,” he said.
In their address read by Mrs. Ebele Oduah, the delegation of Ikpoho Obi Mogbue congratulated Asagba Prof. Azinge on his ascension as the 14th Asagba of Asaba, describing it as a historic milestone.
The women praised his leadership in conflict resolution, cultural preservation, and community development, especially his role in the ongoing construction of the permanent palace building. They also prayed for God’s wisdom and guidance upon his reign.
