APC Applauds Oborevwori’s Infrastructure Push, Hails ‘Purposeful Leadership’ In Delta
THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for what it describes as purposeful leadership and a sustained commitment to delivering key infrastructure projects across the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the ruling party praised the governor for performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, on Monday, January 19, 2026.
The flyover project, awarded to Julius Berger at a cost of ₦59.7 billion, is expected to be completed in 14 months.
According to the APC, the Agbor flyover addresses a long-standing safety challenge at a high-risk interchange that has recorded multiple fatal accidents over the years. The party said the project fulfils the expectations of the people of Agbor and the wider Ika Nation, who have repeatedly called for government intervention.
Beyond its local benefit, the APC noted that the flyover carries national importance, as Agbor sits on a strategic route connecting the East, West, North and South-South regions. It argued that the new infrastructure will ease traffic congestion, improve security, boost economic activity and enhance the general wellbeing of commuters and residents.
The party also highlighted that the Agbor groundbreaking came just days after the governor flagged off the ₦39.3 billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, Ughelli North LGA.
With ongoing works at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction, the APC observed that five flyovers are currently under construction across the state — a development it says reflects the administration’s resolve to expand urban infrastructure and improve living standards.
The statement further praised the governor’s MORE Agenda — Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms and Enhanced peace and security. It cited policy actions such as the clearance of pension and gratuity backlogs, human capital development programmes, monthly stipends for 10,000 widows, MSME recapitalisation through the Bank of Industry, increased funding for higher institutions, and the procurement of modern diagnostic equipment for state hospitals.
The APC also acknowledged Governor Oborevwori’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that improved federal allocations have strengthened the state’s ability to deliver people-focused development. It recalled that in April 2025, Oborevwori led the entire Delta State PDP structure into the APC — a move the party said boosted national support for the president’s reforms.
Dignitaries at the Agbor event included Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme; former Governor and South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Dein of Agbor, HRM Benjamin Ikechukwu Keagborekuzi I; member representing Ika Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Victor Nwokolo; APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, CON; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu; lawmakers, local government chairmen and other top officials. The Executive Chairman of Ika South LGA, Hon. Jerry Ehiwarior, served as chief host.
The APC encouraged Governor Oborevwori to sustain his commitment to people-centred governance, applauding what it described as the impactful use of state resources for the benefit of all Deltans.
