Anambra 2025: YPP’s Paul Chukwuma Promises Full Autonomy For LGs, Judiciary, Legislature

BY GLORY UGOBA
YOUNG Progressive Party (YPP) governorship candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has reaffirmed his commitment to deepening democracy in Anambra State by granting full autonomy to local governments, the judiciary, and the legislature if elected in the November 2025 poll.
Speaking during his monthly media parley with journalists in Umueri, Chukwuma said his administration would allow local governments to function independently, ensuring faster grassroots development.
He further pledged that the judiciary and the State House of Assembly would enjoy complete independence to discharge their constitutional duties, thereby reinforcing checks and balances in governance.
On security, the YPP candidate vowed that security votes would be used strictly to safeguard lives and property.
“I will not interfere with local government autonomy or their funding. Security votes will be used transparently to secure Ndi Anambra. Every revenue will be legally generated and channeled into the State’s development,” he assured.
Chukwuma also promised to run a transparent, people-centered government that would respect due process, encourage constructive criticism, and remain accountable to the people.
Condemning smear campaigns and political mudslinging, he stressed that his campaign would remain focused on issues.
“I am not interested in distractions. My priority is to explain to Ndi Anambra the social and economic reforms my administration will deliver,” he said.
For over six months, Chukwuma has held monthly media briefings as part of efforts to engage the public and outline his vision for the state’s future.
