HAVEL Corporate Concept Ltd. has launched Artificial Intelligence (AI) Clubs in Nigerian schools, a move aimed at equipping students with early knowledge of responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies. The initiative was unveiled by the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ahmed Badanga, at the AI and Blockchain Conference and Training held in Abuja.
Badanga disclosed that the pilot phase of the project has received approval from the FCT Universal Basic Education Board and the FCT Secondary Education Board and will commence in selected public secondary schools within the Federal Capital Territory. The first phase will involve 30 students drawn from Government Secondary School, Wuse Zone 3, and Government Day Secondary School, Wuse 2.
According to him, the initiative addresses a critical gap in digital education by focusing on AI literacy, ethical awareness and critical thinking among younger students. He explained that the goal is to help students understand AI as a tool that enhances human creativity and values rather than replacing them, particularly as technology becomes increasingly embedded in daily life.
Badanga described AI as one of the most transformative innovations of modern times and noted that its integration with blockchain technology could deliver intelligent, secure and transparent systems across sectors. He added that the conference provided a platform to examine how both technologies could be deployed responsibly, while also drawing attention to infrastructure gaps, regulatory challenges and pending AI-related legislation in the National Assembly.
Government officials at the event welcomed the initiative, noting that it aligns with national efforts to digitise public services and prepare young Nigerians for a technology-driven future. Awards were also presented to innovators, companies and policymakers contributing to the advancement of AI and blockchain in Nigeria.
